Online marketing is one of the largest growth drivers for oDesk and we are investing to make it even bigger. We believe that continued success will come from a highly innovative, data-driven approach to online marketing. We have therefore tightly integrated our online marketing team with our internal PhD data science team to drive innovation and growth. We’re looking for a strong leader who is highly analytical and innovative to lead our overall online marketing efforts including our highly successfully SEM program as well as expanding our efforts in retargeting and display. .
Responsibilities:
- Lead our SEM program with the help of our agency and internal analytic teams to continue to innovate and drive growth
- Expand our online display programs including site retargeting, search retargeting, behavioral targeting etc.
- Continuously identify new opportunities for oDesk to acquire new customers online
- Relentlessly track conversion and search metrics to see what’s actually moving the needle
- Be a testing machine – rapidly develop and launch both qualitative and quantitative A/B and multivariate tests
- Frequently update our executive team on the performance of your online programs
Your typical day might include:
- Brainstorming with data scientists to develop new data driven marketing programs
- Analyzing the results of a recent marketing campaign
- Celebrating a team member’s birthday (did we mention we’re big on cake?)
- Evaluating new technologies that might help us expand faster / more efficiently
- Updating executive staff on the success of a new campaign
- Taking a break to grab an espresso and some organic fruit. Your pick, we’ve got it all.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of demonstrated success in leading online marketing programs
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills (strong statistical background is a plus)
- Thorough understanding of A/B and multivariate design and analysis of experiments and appreciation for the challenge of causal inference
- Impact-orientation – you don't run tests for fun, but because you want your numbers to go up *now*
- Innovative and curious mindset – you get excited about finding new ways of doing things and are constantly learning from others
- A roll up your sleeves work ethic.
- Good judgment and an absence of ego in your decision-making
- Great sense of humor (our group is genuinely fun).
